Why I am Pro-Life

The following is in contrast, not rebuttal to Ryans post on ryansliberals.blogspot.com. Before we get into this, let me first state that while I am writing this, this post has ideas from my conservative friends. First, lets state what we agree on. Abortion is a sensitive issue. Also, this arguement is intended to show the other side of abortion, not to attack others views as many have very strong views on both sides.

How Sick it Really Is

I want to avoid trying to get into really graphic detail here but some of this must be said to grasp it fully. If a baby is to be "aborted" in the first trimester (1-3) months, here is how it works. The one performing the abortion sticks a sharp tube into the uterus which basically tears the baby apart and the remains are pulled out by the tube. If it is to happen within the second trimester (4-6) is basically the same but uses a larger sharp edge to deal with the larger body. This last one (7-9 months) is something that is the worst. In simple terms a salt-like poison is injected into the body. The babies skin will burn and it will struggle sometimes for about an hour. The mother may even have a dead baby in the short period after. Others include partial-birth or even worse live-birth. In these cases surgeons scissors are stuck in the babies head to kill it. For me, just reading that over makes me feel sick.

Obama's Position

Since he is running for president, his position on this issues is very important. Jill Stanek, a nurse, described the following situation to Obama's committee in the Illinois senate. What was happening was babies abortions were being botched and they ended up living. However, they were "unwanted" and because of that they were being left in shelves in the E.R to die. To cope with this, a bill known as BAIPA was created and stated that once a baby is born and comes into this world it has the same rights as any other living human. It must live. Even liberal lions like Ted Kennedy (D-MA) and Barbara Boxer (D-CA) even supported this. Obama felt differently. He voted against this bill TWICE and was the only senator to speak out against it. He has also voted against banning partial birth abortions.

Abortion doesn't take a burden out of a womans life

Contrary to what has been stated a woman actually is worse off after an abortion. There is evidence that shows woman who do get abortions suffer from low self-esteem and guilt after abortions. This leads to more bad. Since the legalization of abortion child abuse has increased. This is because of womens stress from getting the abortion. The child abuse occurs on already living children.

Adoption

Although it should not be overheard, the argument of women getting the right to abortion for rape is not that common. In fact only about 1% of abortions are for that reason. However, 93% are due to social problems (unwanted child). Planned Parenthood says "Every Child is a Wanted Child". There are also more people that wan't to adopt than children to adopt. The numbers are 200,000 looking to adopt and 25,000 available each year for adoption. These people are then forced to go abroad to adopt to places like Russia or China which can be very costly to do. What is the harm in adoption? It is a good thing.

Others

The cost of an abortion is about $400. I find that sick because what you are doing is putting a price on a life. How can that be? Also, single mothers, receive large amounts of welfare from the government. It is not a financial issues. Whether you support them doing it or not, the government will help you if you are single and poor.

Conclusion

The point about abortion is this. Couples have the right to get pregnant, but not the right to murder. It is a scientific fact that life begins at conception. Today, the unborn child has no rights and somebody needs to protect them. The "unwanted" issue is sick in and of itself as it is peoples choice to get pregnant. When people banned prayer in public schools the number of "uwanted"pregnancies has increased and ultimately so has abortion. Fortunately the number of pro-life Americans is increasing. Originally abortion rights had a 2:1 margin. Recent polls show that number of pro-choice to pro-life is 56%-48%. We can argue all we want, but it doesn't take away from the fundamental fact that abortion is murder, and murder is and should be illegal.

Like i stated, In no way shape or form do i condone abortion and i agree that it is a sick and twisted fact of life, but it was made legal for a reason. Before it was legal, women would have abortions in back alleys by shady doctors. If you want to talk about sick abortions then hear me out. 90% of abortions that were done before it was legalized were done in the late trimesters and (heres the fucked up part) were performed using a coat hanger. Thats right. The "doctor" or person performing the "operation" would tilt the baby in the womb so the skull was positioned so it could be stabbed through the uterus using the coat hanger. Now as i stated in my article about Pro Choice, the fact is that banning it won't stop it from happening. In countries where it is illegal, the abortion rates are just as high as in countries allowing it. The only difference is the increased danger to the mother in an unsafe process. Instead we need to have need alternatives to discourage people from making these reckless decisions. Bottom line is, making this fucked up fact of life illegal would be a huge error, and wouldn't stop abortions from occurring, it would just make them less safe.

I slightly agree and disagree. Yes we need to reduce the number of teen pregnancies and unmarried pregnancies which are the cause of the majority of abortions. Here is what we can do. Whether it is done in a hospital or alley the outcome is the same: the killing of a human life. Here's what the government could do to punish doctors who break the law. First mandatory prison sentances for many years. Second, if the person gets an abortion assuming it is banned (for both examples) they too will get into trouble. Rememeber it is peoples choice to get pregnant. Also, if the government doesn't who is there to protect the life of an unborn? I'd also like to get your opinion on the partial-birth abortions and abortion limits.

No. Absolutely NO partial birth abortions. I don't care what obamas policy is, there is no way that is justifiable. But you are talking serious stuff here james. Banning abbortion? The fact is that should Roe V Wade be overturned, unlikely, people will remember why we had it institutionalized in the first place.
